New Solar Finally

 This pictures shows 6 brand new 240 watt panels. We were hoping for a game changer, and so far it has been. We haven't lost power since they were installed last week. Our solar electrician gave us some insight on how to use a solar system that we didn't have before. We were using it more "on demand." I'm thinking of course, yeah that's how I want my power to work, I turn on a light switch it comes on. 

Anyway, the new plan is to watch the weather closely and keep the inverter? (the little black box with numbers) between 50 and 54. We lose power about 46, or if the well pump engages and we are below 48. The well pump is our biggest power sucker. Water going into or out of the house is the overall biggest problem for off grid. Or so I've been told----repeatedly. 

He also left us with a little gas generator that will run for about 8 hours on a gallon of gas to keep it up to 50 on cloudy days. That worked out great, except it was too close to the house and CO2 was leaking through the walls and setting off our alarms. Then it broke. Then we fixed it, and got rid of it before it could break again.

This is how we (as a family) feel today. I'll get pictures from Christmas up soon, but for now I figured I would at least post something so Kelley doesn't get on me again for not updating. =) We had a great Christmas with all our family and have had five seperate parties. We will head to IL soon for the last one. AnnaBelle was up for several hours last night again (1:30-3:30) and here I had gone to bed at midnight because Gid was at a fire. Two condos at Caribou Highlands are lost. He get home about 2:30 this morning. One of my daycare dads is a lutsen firefighter was there from about 9:30pm- 6:30am. Eeeww! But because all the teams did there jobs, it was only the unit that started it and one next to it. So anyway there is my update. We are all tired because AnnaBelle was crying and pulling on her ears again and because Gid was firefighting. AB has a appointment tomorrow afternoon. I am going to push for an allergy test (is that even possible?) and tubes for her ears. Sara

Allergies Of Course

Hello, figured I hadn't really posted about anything since almonds, and we've come a long way since then. First on is AnnaBelle. We tried reintroducing a small amount of milk in her diet, we let her eat a two pumpkin muffins over three days. The recipe contained 3 TB of milk. That was three weeks ago and we are still seeing the side effects. So no milk for AnnaBelle. The symptoms we saw were the second day her voice had changed and sounded gurgaly-is that a word? Runny nose started a few days later. Then we had about a week of "my tummy hurt." and one exciting morning where she threw up continually until she was empty. No we are on to the worst part for us--accidents and wetting the bed. Good thing I stocked up on laundry soap. Quite a record for 3 TB of milk in 24 muffins which she only had two of.
